It was reported in the Pioneer Press that Pop!! in the old Fhima’s space has closed (temporarily they say). I am firmly convinced that space is cursed! When I’m in the car, heading back from somewhere, I tend to loop around the restaurants around downtown to see how they are doing. On a typical weekend around 1opm, the place is a ghost town. Drive by Mears Park and all of the establishments are hopping (yes, even Faces is busier).
I really am not surprised they couldn’t swing it in that location. It’s not as good as it looks on paper.
Also, what’s up with the PP having fun with story titles? That’s my job! ”Pop goes the restaurant”

I like Pop!!, but the dining room is so big that it needs to do 3X the business of The Bulldog to look moderately busy. Part of the psychology of restaurant popularity is looking popular. Hard to do when you need to turn so many tables just to look like you’re open.
Toni, I’m agree with you that the space is too big. I think Pop!! could have been successful if they were in another location. Too bad really.
Have you thought putting video to this blog to keep the people more interested?I think it works.
I heard that a new night club or bar is moving in by the end of summer? Have you heard anything?
